As Jesus gave the signs of His coming to the disciples on the Mount of Olives, He gave them the parable of the wise and faithful servant.
“A faithful and wise servant is the one who gives out the correct rations to his fellow servants while the master is away. When the master comes home and finds his servant faithful, he will make the servant ruler over all his goods.
But a foolish servant will say, ‘The master is delayed in his return.’ Then he will beat his fellow servants, and get drunk and eat all he wants of the master’s stores. The servant doesn’t know the time his master returns, and he will return at a time the servant isn’t prepared for. This wicked servant will be struck down, and left to weep and grind his teeth.”
