Christianity is centered upon a belief in Jesus Christ as the Only Begotten Son of God, and that He is our Creator, Savior, and Redeemer.
Central to Christianity is the knowledge that we are in a lost and fallen state. We are separated from God both physically and spiritually. Jesus Christ, by suffering for our sins and giving His own life in sacrifice, has overcome both physical and spiritual death. Christ was the “first fruits” of the resurrection, in that He was the first person to rise from the dead with a perfect, resurrected body. Because of this, we all will be resurrected at some point after we die. Resurrected bodies are perfect. They do not suffer hunger, fatigue, disease or death, but live forever in radiant health. Thus, Christ has overcome the grave.
Our spiritual separation from God is caused by our unworthiness to stand in His presence. We are all imperfect. We are sinners. God is our judge. When we sin, we deserve punishment, but Christ... Read the rest of this entry »

Sometimes I just want my life to look like I’ve got everything under control. I don’t necessarily have to really have everything under control, just the outward appearance that I’m organized, self-sufficient and always calm. And lately, I’ve realized this is a recipe for disaster.
I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (sometimes mistakenly referred to as the Mormon Church). As Mormons, we believe we should follow our Savior Jesus Christ in His teachings and principles as we strive to become more like Him. Jesus Christ’s immaculate atonement provides the necessary resources (grace) to help us become clean, improve our lives and come back to Him.
And occasionally it’s much easier said than done.
In a book titled, Experiencing Christ: Your Personal Journey to the Savior, written by Randall J. Brown, and published in 2009 by Cedar Fort, Inc, Brown talks about our own barriers that keep us from becoming... Read the rest of this entry »

Easter is coming in just a few days. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (a Mormon), Easter means much more to me than spring flowers and chocolate bunnies. I am a Christian, with a deep and abiding love for Jesus Christ. As always at this time of year, I feel both profound sorrow and profound joy as I contemplate the sacrifice of our Savior when He took upon Himself all the sins and evil of the world, suffered, and was crucified. It is almost unbearable to remember His sufferings. Yet my heart is filled with overwhelming joy at His resurrection, which brings with it the incredible promise of eternal life. The Doctrine and Covenants, which contains revelations from God given through modern Mormon prophets, uses a beautiful image to describe Jesus’ atonement. Jesus has “descended below all things, …that he might be in all and through all things, the light of truth” (from The Doctrine and Covenants,... Read the rest of this entry »
